PENOLA COMMUNITY
Varieties Planted: Approximately 90% of "Penola Community" vineyard area is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. The balance of the vineyards are planted to Shraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Soils: "Penola Community" vineyards are planted on a series of isolated elevated outcrops of Terra Rossa soil that are lifted up out of the Limestone sub-base that underlies the region. These uplifted Terra Rossa "islands" are spread throughout the Penola district.

Climate: The Penola district is a "cool climate" grape growing area with an average annual rainfall of around 650mm

The Penola wine district: "Penola Community" vineyards are pklanted throughout the district over an area of approximately 45km (North--South) x 12km (East--West). (See Map below)

Area of "Penola Community" vineyards: 290 Hectares

Annual average grapes produced by "Penola Community" vineyards (Estimate): 2000-2500 Tonnes.
